Through my family eyes is a memoir that recounts the life and struggle of Mrs. Estella Dailey, Gladys McBean, and Yvonne Johnson. Mrs. Estella live during a time when African Americans were hunted down and killed. Although she was mistreated because of the color of her skin, she and her mother were also shown favor. St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city became the center of the civil rights movement, and Mrs. Gladys and Mrs. Yvonne were in the midst of the fight. It is through their eyes you will see their struggles with hate and segregation. But through their frustration, you will relive their fight for civil rights during the 1960s in St. Augustine Florida.
